Sending the Gift of Healing
(www.drdavidhamilton.com)
Scientists have shown that we can send healing to those we care about and it will have an effect upon them.
In a powerful experiment, 11 healers from Hawaii sent healing at random 2-minute intervals to recipients inside MRI scanners. Incredibly, as they sent healing the MRI scanners picked up activity in the brains of the recipients (see image below), which was correlated with the intentions of the healers.
Each person sent healing of a type that they personally used. Overall, the recipients were sent, prayer, chant or song by a Kahuna, Peruvian shamanic healing, Reiki, vibrational or sound healing, or Qigong, where they sent energy, prayer or good intentions, or thought of the individual in the scanner and wished them the highest good.
In the experiment the healers sent 6 bursts of 2 minute healing over the course of 34 minutes, at time intervals randomly set by the scientists conducting the experiment and that were unknown to the recipients inside the MRI's.
MRI brain scans showed significant activation in several brain areas in the recipients, as shown in the actual scans below:

Significant activation took place in the anterior cingulate cortex of the recipients, which is known to be active during some placebo effects, frontal superior areas , which is associated with concentration, judgement and decision making, and the precuneus which has been associated with resting consciousness and self-reflection.
These activations only occurred during the times when the healers were sending healing and not at any other time during the experiment.
I once heard of a Kahuna say that if a healer's belief in healing is stronger than a patient's belief in sickness then healing occurs. Therefore I particularly found the activation of the anterior cingulate cortex interesting. I would interpret this as the belief of the healer in healing being picked up by the brain of the recipient. Ultimately, this will lead to chemical release in the brain of the recipient in a targeted way that would bring about healing.
I have investigated healing for a long time and have discussed it in two of my books, 'It's the Thought that Counts' and 'How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body'. I've realised that anyone can send healing to another person. All we need is a compassionate desire to help.
We can either send healing by imagining it flowing through us from a higher being, like we're a conduit, or we can mentally imagine carrying out healing in the body. If you are doing this, be sure to ask permission first.
Isn't it amazing that we can help people on their journey to wellness just by wishing them well? We don't realise that we are all connected at a deep level (some say it's quantum entanglement - I believe this is true but we are additionally connected at an unconscious level) and that all good thoughts have an effect upon the person we wish them of.
So why not send out good thoughts as often as you remember to, especially at this time of year.
